Distrito Capital Hotel - Mexico City
Distrito Capital is a newish hotel in the Santa Fe neighborhood and business district of Mexico City, Mexico. With interiors that bring you back to the 1960s, the vintage décor and ambiance makes for a chic and stylish business destination. The building was created by Diametro Arquitectos with interiors by Joseph Dirand and offers the best of both worlds — retro and now.
Entering, you’re immediately greeted with a vintage feel, like stepping onto the set of Mad Men. The place is littered with Eero Saarinen tables, Wim Rietveld chairs and Verner Panton lamps.

Made.com - Designer furniture straight from supplier
Made.com, a seven-month-old U.K. start-up that sells top-quality furniture online at deep discounts by cutting out those middlemen. Made.com is also putting its customers at the Web's leading edge by employing a form of crowd-sourcing to generate product designs.
The only catch, customers wait eight to 12 weeks for their orders. However buyers are willing to endure this for 50% to 80% discounts: Made.com is selling a shipping container's worth of merchandise a day. Li claims his company's furniture is as well made as the stuff sold by such high-end retailers as Roche Bobois and Conran. "We use the same suppliers," he notes.

Khyber Ridge Residence by Studio NminusOne
Commissioned for Marc Morisset— a professional snowboarder, the five storey house is built like a shredder following the line of a steep mountain. Perfectly blending with the green environment, the Khyber Ridge Residence adds a tinge of “floating” and a bunch of unconventional details that get the eye. And although it looks old and worn, the interior is all about contemporary shapes and elegant furnishings, for more warmth.

“Dwelling in Avila”, a residence with an uncommon architecture located in Spain. Here is an excerpt from the press release: “A dwelling of generous proportions developed over a single storey to facilitate the indoor-outdoor connection and to make the most of the environment in which it stands. Surrounded by meadows, tree groves, chestnut, pine and oak trees and wildlife represented by stags, wild boar and roe deer, the edifice establishes a recognized link with the traditional architecture and vernacular customs. Stone, tile, wood have been used in its construction. The sense of the architecture is to formalize the space and layout of the rooms besides representing a clear tribute to rural villages.

Patrick Hruby - The West Wind
The West Wind is a new print by Patrick Hruby that was inspired by a story his mom read to him when he was a child about the four winds talking to one another. Patrick always daydreamed about what each of the winds might look like and what they would say, and this print illustrates what he imagined the West Wind to look like.

The Pierre Residence
Nestled between giant boulders and overlooking the San Juan Archipelago, this fascinating looking house comes from Olson Kundig Architects and is also known as the Pierre residence. This project is a beautiful and inspiring example of how to combine natural elements with contemporary building designs.
The Pierre house was constructed mostly using local materials which is also why it seems to integrate so well in its landscape. The concrete and glass create a nice contrast and together with the rocky formations form one of the most intriguing houses in this style.

Modern Neo-Siheyuan in Buzen
Suppose Design Office took another road than the usual architectural projects out there with this incredible House in Buzen. The concept revolves around the idea of having every room built like separates structures. The corridor is positioned in such a way that it almost surrounds the house, completely separating every room from the next one: “Paths covered by a glass roof weave between the disconnected structures to create an interior space that feels exterior, a private space that feels public, a hall that feels like an avenue. In that space the children can run around, you can enjoy a breeze while you eat, read under the sun, and fall asleep watching the stars.”

Photographic Artist - Edward Burtynsky
Edward Burtynsky's photos from his Railcuts series are amazing. His imagery explores the intricate link between industry and nature, combining the raw elements of mining, quarrying, manufacturing, shipping, oil production and recycling into eloquent, highly expressive visions. The natural landscapes appear so strong and solid, yet humans have left their mark through railroad and quarry cuts.

The Tellada House
The Tellada House seems to be levitating at a first glance. This is actually a visual illusion – the house maintains the slope of the land, while blending in with the natural environment, with trees that bring shade and comfort. Eco-friendly features earned it the prize from Juan de Vega Foundation. The Spanish designers from Rosales and Crecente Architects created this home in the forest from wood, the basic material for the exterior of the house, as well as the surrounding area.

KvD House in Netherlands
Grosfeld Van der Velde Architects wanted to bring the beautiful nature inside this house near the southern parts of the Netherlands, near a town called Breda. Named House KvD, this modern building rests between the trees of Teteringen forest. Its square shape allows you to enjoy the wonderful surrounding environment through the large windows as you move along the corridors. An interior courtyard is formed between the ground floor and the elevated part of the square. The kitchen is located on ground, the living area is located in the tallest part of the building, while the bedrooms are lifted by the pylons for a better view of the forest.

Binic Lamp - Foscarini
Binic is the name of a little lighthouse on the coast of Brittany. And it is the Breton seafaring world that has inspired this young French designer’s small, fun table lamp. Binic’s curious form recalls the “wind socks” that are used as ventilation systems on sailing ships.
Binic is suggested as a “take away” object, a present, or a personal object of desire. It wins one over through empathy, with a real ‘coup de cœur.’

Greek home -Tinos
On the island of Tinos. Designed by Zege Architects, this home is composed of two separate volumes connected together through a veranda. Even though this house was recently built, the designers did their best in respecting the architecture and tradition of the surrounding constructions. Exposed stone formations, white picket fences and exposed timber are of strong visual effect. You are looking at a fresh, simple and beautiful home with charming interior details, perfectly integrated in its environment.

Summer house in Sweden
Located in the Archipelago of Stockholm, Island House belongs to WRB Architects, a small architecture studio in Sweden, which mostly take on projects involving small private residences. Sometimes referred to as a “cottage” or just a beautiful place of retreat, the Island House features an amazing view of the ocean and is located in a fresh and luxurious environment. Oak trees and pines can be seen all around; the site was built to also include a 500 years old oak, which erichens the property. However, you are probably more interested in details such as the wooden deck, a great place to drink the morning tea or the late afternoon wine, or the sauna!
