JPark Collection

Basics, but with enough detailing to make it a touch fashion minded. Julie Park's collection JPark aims for the latter, with a collection of carefree separates. No reinvention of the wheel, but everything is tweaked and tailored enough to be special, like a cotton tank that's accentuated by a draped back and bow or a t-shirt dress with a chic, little drawstring. The Spring collection is made of mostly linen and cotton, meaning Summer days can be spent feeling breezy and fresh.

fiat: 500 cabrio convertible

At the new york auto show 2011chrysler and fiat north america have debuted the newest addition to the american '500c' line in the form of the 2012 'fiat 500 cabrio' soft-top convertible.

The power-operated cloth top can be retracted or raised while driving, at up to speeds of 60mph for lowering and up to 50mph for raising. unlike conventional convertibles, the side structure of the 'cabrio', with fully framed windows, remains up even in convertible mode, as the roof slides up and down on rails along the top of the car. Pushing the control button once retracts the top as far back as the rear spoiler, while a second press of the button opens the roof completely, tucking it behind the rear head restraints.

Adams Fleming Residence - Levitt Goodman Architects

Located in Toronto, Canada, the modern home used to be part of an industrial site, but the collaboration between the inhabitants and the designers from Levitt Goodman Architects turned the building into a fantastic up to date home, complete with an artistic character borrowed from the owners – a graphic designer and a furniture designer. The entertaining parts of the house – living room, kitchen and dining room – are completely open to the outside world and hide the more private rooms – bedroom and bathrooms. These last ones were raised on a platform that solves the problem of storage throughout the house. Another storey added to the building contains a studio space for work and where the inhabitants can also enjoy their common passion – music.  The outside space completes this home’s optimistic character: an outdoor dining room, a fountain plunge pool, a vegetable garden, a French-style orchard, and many native plants and grasses – all of these create the perfect balance between nature and human habitat.

Zuiderzee chair - Richard Hutten

'zuiderzee chair' was created by dutch designer richard hutten for the zuiderzee museum in the netherlands and featured on exhibition with dutch furniture company NgispeN during milan design week 2011.

'zuiderzee' is based on a traditional dutch chair composed of wood and woven sticks or straw.
in hutten's interpretation, smooth beech wood, subtle curves, and a slimmer profile offer the piece a contemporary aesthetic, whose basic form nonetheless references its historical origins. not merely ornamental, however, the design details are responsible for a considerable decrease in weight and significantly increased comfort of the chair over its predecessor.

National Museum of American Jewish History - Ennead Architects

Designed by Ennead Architects (formerly James Stewart Polshek Architects), the NMAJH opened in November 2010 and is located on the famous Independence Mall in Philadelphia, PA right down the block from the Liberty Bell.

Inside, the five-story building houses 25,000 square feet of exhibition space, an 85-foot-tall atrium and a 200-seat theater. The terracotta and glass building is topped out with a beacon of light which is meant to symbolize themes of faith and patriotism. The color of the terracotta blends in nicely with the surrounding Federal-style brick buildings.

But the terracotta of the building isn’t just for aesthetics — it’s part of a back-ventilated rainscreen system by Shildan Inc. This system was developed in Europe in the last half of the twentieth century and it has many benefits — energy efficiency, humidity control, long term durability, the elimination of most maintenance. LEED points can be earned from recycling the terracotta and aluminum material. In this case, the aluminum support system is also manufactured with 62% recycled aluminum sourced within 300 miles of the museum. By using an innovative system and eliminating off-gassing from sealants, additional benefits to the environment were achieved. The result is a state-of-the-art museum that is as functional as it is visually appealing.

Inside Out House - Takeshi Hosaka Architects

Takeshi Hosaka Architects have designed the Inside Out house in Tokyo, Japan. This is a project of a house for a married couple and two cats, located in Tokyo. The project had started based on the idea that humans and cats live in a same house, rather than cats living in a house designed for humans — and finally this idea brought out a concept: “a house inside which you feel being outside.”

Cement Factory Conversion into Residential and Exhibition Spaces - Ricardo Bofill

Ricardo Bofill is the proud inhabitant and creator of one of the best architectural reconversions. An old cement factory became the playground of a fabulous array of art and culture. On a surface of over 3,100 square meters that used to serve as an industrial building, the architect recreated a space of wonders, grouping different spaces with various artistic and residential purposes: offices, archives, a model laboratory, an exhibition space, Bofill’s apartment, guest rooms and gardens. The abandoned cement factory became a vestige that would incorporate a contemporary understanding of space based on repurposing an excellent building. By demolishing some structures and exposing previously hidden elements, the factory was transformed into a luscious collection of spaces during a process that lasted two years. The three main elements – the cathedral, the garden, and the silos – were sculpted in a new shape. The residential part retained the industrial accents but Bofill re-imagined the lofty interiors with high ceilings by adding contemporary furniture and casual decorative elements. Gardens filled with luscious eucalyptus, palms, olive trees and cypresses complete the exterior while offering a glimpse of the luxuriously restored interiors. Exquisite in every detail, the Cement Factory found on Yatzer bounds two distinct ages and merges styles through a fabulous design.

Modern Swedish Bedroom Designs

When it comes to Scandinavian apartments, the living room always draws attention due to spectacular details. For today we decided to prove that Northern cribs have a lot more to offer than amazing socializing areas. This is why we gathered incredible looking bedrooms that are welcoming and not to mention inspiring. Even though they are all unique, we noticed some similar elements that are worth bringing up. First off, all the bedrooms in the photos below feature large windows that are usually covered by stylish window blinds or subtle curtains. On each side of the king-size bed there are traditional night tables, original shelving units or chairs. The walls are painted mostly in white, but here and there you will notice an interesting color disruption: some of the bedrooms have fresh wallpapers that liven up the room. The lighting details are particularly interesting to observe.
