Greek home -Tinos

On the island of Tinos. Designed by Zege Architects, this home is composed of two separate volumes connected together through a veranda. Even though this house was recently built, the designers did their best in respecting the architecture and tradition of the surrounding constructions. Exposed stone formations, white picket fences and exposed timber are of strong visual effect. You are looking at a fresh, simple and beautiful home with charming interior details, perfectly integrated in its environment.

Summer house in Sweden

Located in the Archipelago of Stockholm, Island House belongs to WRB Architects, a small architecture studio in Sweden, which mostly take on projects involving small private residences. Sometimes referred to as a “cottage” or just a beautiful place of retreat, the Island House features an amazing view of the ocean and is located in a fresh and luxurious environment. Oak trees and pines can be seen all around; the site was built to also include a 500 years old oak, which erichens the property. However, you are probably more interested in details such as the wooden deck, a great place to drink the morning tea or the late afternoon wine, or the sauna!

Plumen Bulbs

The Plumen bulb is a CFL that, with a little extra design attention, has been developed into a more appealing form than the standard spiral. The form is so beautiful, in fact, that many consumers leave it exposed, rather than hiding it behind a fixture or lampshade. The bulb also uses 80-percent less energy and lasts 8 times longer than incandescent bulbs.

Twisted Lights by Erwin Zwiers

Erwin Zwiers presents his latest collection — Twisted Lights and Twisted Bowls — introduced last month at the Elle Inside Design event in the Lloyd Hotel in Amsterdam. This collection was inspired by the bent plywood material that was used. As the forming capabilities of plywood are almost endless, Erwin Zwiers used that flexibility to wrap the plywood around a main form.

Colonel Furniture

Colonel brings old furniture back to life. Founded in 2010 by Isabelle Gilles and Yann Poncelet, the Paris-based company designs their own collection in collaboration with specialized craftsmen and small wood factories. I like the idea of infusing some of these vintagey, worn pieces in with some hard-lined modern furnishings to create a nice contrast of materials and shapes.
