Hollywood Hills Residence

This imposing residence was designed by Michael Parks and is located in the Laurel Canyon section of Los Angeles’ Hollywood Hills. There is an interesting story about this residence which makes it stand out as a testament to forward-thinking, sleek, open, airy and inviting modern architecture. After seeing a few architecture plans that were above his budget and with a good contractor on board, Parks decided to remodel the house for himself. I think he did a great job for this 'not so hollywood' residence on the hills. He kept the design luxurous, however simplicity and integration with surrounding enviroment stands out.

The Peaks View residence - Carney Logan Burke

The Peaks View residence was designed by Carney Logan Burke and is located near Wilson, Wyoming, within a fascinating natural environment, close to the mountains. With two major objectives in mind- of creating a home that would integrate well in its environment, but one that would also answer the modern living needs of the owners- the architects envisioned a residence with quite a few original characteristics. The interiors combine the coziness of a mountain home with contemporary details, leading to charming and inviting interiors.

Porter Cottage - Alex Scott Porter

The December/January issue of Dwell featured this cute 320-square-foot cabin on an island 20 miles off the coast of Maine.

Designed by Alex Scott Porter, it an off-the-grid cozy writer’s retreat that features lots of eco-friendly goodness including a graywater system, solar panels, passive solar heating and cooling, a solar refrigerator, rainwater catchment, and a composting toilet. A small screened porch, a storage closet and the composting toilet room add another 160 square feet to the cabin. What a great place to cozy up with a good book, a cup of hot chocolate, and an oversized sweater.

Fyrkat Grill - Bodum

I love Bodum for their simplicity and their practical designs. Besides the classic Bodum Canteen, the Fyrkat Grill is just another great design. Perfect if you just have a small balcony or a park at your disposal.
